3Fun is a location-based mobile online dating app that is available for both iOS and Android devices. It is available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Netherlands, and several other countries, and has more than 2 million downloads in total. However, there are several security issues with this application that you should be aware of.
Location data leak
A recent leak of location data on 3Fun has made it possible to trace users’ movements. The data is stored inside the app, but it wasn’t properly encrypted or stored on 3Fun’s servers. This means that anyone can see users’ exact locations, even if they’re not willing to share it. Even those users who are trying to keep their location private, such as celebrities, could be tracked by a hacker.
Verification system
3fun’s verification system was found to have a significant flaw. The company allegedly kept its users’ location data in the app, and didn’t store it securely on their servers. Though users are supposed to limit this data, 3fun’s verification system was able to find the exact location of users from all over the world. For example, they discovered users at the US Supreme Court, White House, and 10 Downing Street.
Privacy settings
Despite the privacy settings available in 3Fun, it seems that the data from the server reveals information about the user that 3fun claims it doesn’t reveal. This information includes the user’s gender, sexual orientation, birth date, and personal activities. It is even possible to access private photos. The 3Fun app claims that its privacy settings only reveal private photos to your matches, but its privacy settings aren’t very effective.
Sign-up process
You have to upload a photo to complete the 3Fun sign-up process. This will allow you to communicate with others and exchange photos. If you’re not comfortable with sharing your photo, you can opt out of the sign-up process. If you’re interested in meeting other users, you can also check out 3Fun’s free trial.
